Lee,
The picture is great! I recognize many of the boys in the picture. That boy in, third from the right in the second row, is my younger brother, Tim. He still lives in the Hershey area. Has had a few medical issues, but the the Grace of God, he got through the last 6 years cancer free. I am certain he would love to see this picture. I do not remember seeing this one in mom's albums. Thank you for sharing, and God bless.
Hi Lee,
Yes, that is me in my knickers. The picture was taken at Farm Unit 3B Venice. The old original farm house was the right half of our home and the laft half was an attachment built into the old home. Because we were on the west side of the Swatara Creek we had our own cook and we got some really good meals from her. We had a cherry tree on the farm and the cook would make all kinds of delicious cherry desserts if we picked the cherries. A great home.
The original farm home had no bathrooms so a bath house was built near the home for us. To get to the bath house from the home, we had to go outside first, even in bitter cold weather. But it was unique in lots of ways.

Everything I ever was or hope to be I owe to Milton S. Hershey. It took me 32 years after graduation to figure that out. Ironically, his devotion to children is what led me to serve a 31.5 year career as President of various Junior Achievement Chapters...serving more than 1M children.
Realizing the potential of his mission, according to his Deed of Trust, inspires a number of us to do all we can...beginning with reform of the self-selecting, six-figure paid member of the MHS Board of Managers who have more politicians seated than childcare professionals (none). How can the first elected AG of our Commonwealth not understand his conflict of interests in serving both as Chairman of HERCO and MHS?
Reform the MHS Board of Managers and the rest will take care of itself.

Less than two years later I became President of JA in Roanoke, VA. Three years later moved on to President of JA in Jacksonville, Florida...a heavenly location for 11 years. My final move was to Pittsburgh as JA's President from '91 until I retired in January of 2007.
