Lost in the shuffle of Gumpmania Monday night was the renewal of Superintendent Linda Brewer's contract. Read my print story here.

The vote was 8-1, with Donna Cronin dissenting.

I've been bugging school spokesman Dan Tredinnick to get a full copy of the contract, and when I do it will be posted here. In case you're wondering, yes, her contract is public record.

Though I don't yet have a copy of the contract, Tredinnick offered us the following details:

1. Dr. Brewer’s original contract was from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2009. It was the desire of the current board to offer Dr. Brewer a new contract beginning July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2012.

2. Under the terms of her original contract, Dr. Brewer would have earned the salary of $134,533 for the period beginning July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Under the terms of her new contract Dr. Brewer will earn the salary of $142,000 for the period beginning July 1, 2008 through July 30, 2009.

3. Had Dr. Brewer retired at the end of her original contract on June 30, 2009, she would have been eligible for a one time lump sum retirement payment of $15,000. In recognition of Dr. Brewer’s willingness to forego her eligibility for this retirement payment, a one time lump sum retention recognition payment of $15,000 will be paid to Dr. Brewer on June 30, 2012. This payment will be made if and only if Dr. Brewer remains continuously employed as superintendent through June 30, 2012. This payment is in lieu of, and not in addition to, the retirement payment Dr. Brewer would be eligible for if she retired on June 30, 2009.

4. Under the original contract, the district contributed $1,750 maximum annually to Dr. Brewer’s tax shelter annuity. Under the new contract the district will contribute $3,500 maximum annually to Dr Brewer’s tax shelter annuity.

5. There were no changes to the annual merit payment eligibility. This eligibility is based on an annual performance evaluation conducted by the full Board. The maximum allowed is 3.0% of previous year’s salary.
